What's New for the 2025 Kia K5?
This year, Kia has given the new K5 a refresh to its design. The exterior is mostly unchanged, though it does receive new headlights and taillights. On the other hand, the interior sees several new improvements, like updated materials and new ambient lighting on the doors. The biggest change, though, is under the hood. Gone is the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine - in its place is a non-turbocharged 2.5-liter engine with 191 horsepower.
Design
Though the new 2025 Kia K5 has a set of new heads and taillights, its appearance remains the same as its predecessors. However, the interior has not. Inside, the K5 improves its layout with a more elegant appearance, using higher-end materials such as wood trim on the dash and doors.
This updated cabin also comes with updated features. There's new ambient interior lighting on the dash and doors, heated and ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof. Rear-seat passengers will also enjoy the new K5 with its ample legroom.
Performance
Powering the new K5 is a 191-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Equipped on GT model, though, is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that outputs 290 hp and 311 lbs.-feet of torque.
Fuel Economy
The EPA has yet to release any info about the K5's base engine. However, they have released their findings on the more powerful 2.5-liter engine. According to the EPA, the 290-hp engine has a fuel economy of about 24 mpg in the city and 32 on the highway.
Technology
The cabin of the new K5 sees the most updates, and with it comes new tech to enjoy. Now, both the infotainment screen and digital gauge share the same monitor. The digital gauge is 12.0 inches, while the infotainment screen is 12.3-inches and includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and controls for the car's 12-speaker Bose audio system.
Safety
To ensure passenger safety, Kia has outfitted the K5 with a slew of advanced driver-aids. Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control all come standard. With higher trims and optional packages offering safety features like rear parking sensors, rear automatic braking, and a surround-view camera.
